GULFPORT, Fla. – State Rep. Berny Jacques asked Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Kevin Hendrick to terminate Boca Ciega High Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps instructor Jay Jackson over alleged comments following the murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
“Today I sent a letter to the Pinellas County Schools Superintendent about a Boca Ciega High JROTC Instructor who justified the murder of Charlie Kirk. Sadly this man is entrusted with young minds and our future service members. Unfit! Enough is enough! Everyone last one of these so called educators celebrating this heinous act must be purged from our schools,” Jacques wrote.
According to the school’s website, Col. Jay Jackson is listed as a senior Army instructor.
A Facebook post from an account Jay S Jackson stated: “When you speak or talk of your future. Sometimes your get what you wanted.”
Jacques said that Jackson “doubled down” approximately 12 hours later.
“Charlie Kirk was killed over his Radical Racist GOP beliefs. Agent Orange allowed Americans to storm the Capitol Whitehouse and not certify the free election. Agent Orange radicalized Americans for violence. You get what you preach. He said it’s okay for a few to die to protect gun rights. He got the GUN,” a second post said.
Jacques called Jackson’s behavior “abhorrent, unbecoming, and unacceptable from any educator entrusted with our children, entrusted with our future soldiers, or representing Pinellas County Schools.”
“I trust under your leadership this type of vile behavior will not be tolerated and that Colonel Jackson’s position will be terminated,” Jacques said.
